rabidsamfan: samwise gamgee, I must see it through (quest)

It's like this. I'm still trying to decide which WIP for the bigbang. I'd really like to try doing it because I might actually snag some artwork for one of the stories, but that's actually made it a bit harder to decide.

So, here are the factors for each story:

The Errand Lad. (Lord of the Rings) Currently at 23119 words, without a scrap sitting in rough draft form, and last worked on Jan 10, 2006. Has 6 people who remember it and still visit my LJ, and was fairly notorious in its day. There may be artists out there, especially since the Hobbit movies are raising fandom interest slightly. Rereading it I really enjoyed myself, spotted some inconsistencies to the source *sigh* and found myself still uncertain how to get to where I wanted to go.

A Question of Trust. (Sherlock Holmes ACD, mildly AU) Currently at 7380 words posted out of 10100 words in the google doc and the last posting was 8 July 2008. Has 5 people who remember it and still visit my LJ, and is part of a series I really should continue working on. Because it is Sherlock Holmes it has a fairly good chance of snagging artwork. Rereading it I enjoyed myself, wondered if I could find the voice again, and realized that I either need to do some serious research or vigorous handwaving in order to finish it.

Alternate Ending to Dirtier by the Dozen. (The New Avengers) Currently at 30,014 words posted out of 54791 words in the google doc. The last post was on 12 Dec 2008, just before I jammed on a key scene. Two votes of being remembered in the poll, and practically no chance of artwork as the fandom is very very tiny. Rereading it I got caught up in the story again, actually thought of a possible way out of the scene which had me stuck before, and still wasn't quite sure how to reach the denoument.

So, not a clear decision in the least. Hence, I'm going to thrown this out to the potential audiences. If I go for this, I'll need a beta (who would need to be willing to listen to me creeb about the plots and make suggestions), and a possible artist (even if said artwork only consists of finding some pictures from the sources which kind of sort of could fit at a few places in the story.) And a cheering section. Oh, yes...

[Poll #1954829]

[Poll #1954830]

[Poll #1954831]

(I should make it clear that possible artists wouldn't be making a commitment straight away to my story, just to also signing up for the bigbang and finding something to illustrate.)

I'm sorry, I just don't have the bandwidth to beta right now. Otherwise, I'd love to. Good luck!

Oh, believe me, I know about bandwidth fails! If I had more I'd probably say I'd work on all three!

My graphics/drawing skills are notoriously at the "meh" end of the spectrum, but for betaing and general jumping up and down in excitement, count me in! You have no idea how excited I am even at the idea that you've got a notion as to how to continue it. The TNA fandom can always use more love, and you write it so wonderfully. Gambit would thank you for giving him a (hopefully) happy resolution to his ordeal, I'm sure. :-)

I honestly can't remember how far I've let you read, since you're kind of the main audience. I'm thinking I may use the Holmesfic for the big bang since it needs approximately the target number of words, and just go ahead and work on the other two anyway, now that I've primed the pump.

I've got access to the Google Doc, so I've read everything that's been posted up there. I'm corresponding with another fan at the moment who's always looking for more TNA fic, so there's a tiny bit more than me out there (though I realise you can get more bang for your buck with the other two fandoms, no pun intended). She's sort of waiting on me right now because I started my own WIP resuscitation project over the summer in a bid to finish the last two stories I had planned for the arc. But even just the possibility of more "Dirtier" at some point is enough to brighten my Monday. :-)

Er... there are three googledocs. One you had comments on, but there's another one. *dangles little fishy*

Ah, I see you do have access to the long one. Or should be able to view it anyway. Confirm for me the wordcount and I'll upgrade your privileges.

Yep, I've got access to two as far as I can tell--the comments one, which was my creation, apparently, and the long one which you've now appended a little "wipbigbang" note at the end of. I downloaded it into a word doc some time ago, and it gives me a wordcount of 51288. So if there's anything floating around that's not in that doc, I've not seen it.

Okay, that's the long one, with everything there is so far. I've upped you to editing privileges, just comment when you do, so that it's easy for me to find your suggestions.

Great! So should I start from the top and give it a once-over?

Sure. Just make a comment where you suggest something so I can skip down and find the suggestions fairly easily.

Which bigbang is this? I'm off and on and I've missed it. If it involves finishes WIPs, I might need to consider it. I definitely do NOT need to start anything new at this point in my writing life! But finishing something...I mean, I already have a wonderful artist pairing for my overdue bbs from a couple years back, so I wouldn't want to enter one of those, but I might consider something else unfinished.

PS - I seem to recall loving The Errand Lad, I should admit.

I'm leaning toward using the Sherlockian story for the big bang, and still planning to poke at the other two, since I have volunteers to beta.

Ohmygoodness! The thought of you finishing either The Errand Lad OR A Question of Trust thrills me no end! I've not forgotten about either of them, and would love to read more! I don't have a single solitary artistic bone in my body, and I'm not sure I'd be any good at beta'ing, but I would cheer very loudly and enthusiastically at every word!
